2 young boys injured in ‘gang-related’ East Side shootout

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Two children were left wounded Thursday night following an alleged “gang-related” shootout in an East Side apartment complex.

San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus said one group of people allegedly began shooting at the other at about 7 p.m. in the Palms apartments, 3735 E. Commerce St.

“We do believe what we have is a gang-related shooting,” he said.

“There was nothing brewing that seems to have led up to this,” McManus said. “It may be retaliation for another shooting, but we have to confirm all of that.”

Northwest Side homeowner shot alleged intruder

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A Northwest Side homeowner reportedly shot an alleged home invader as he scrambled over the backyard fence of his home early Wednesday.

Police reportedly arrived at the scene around 3:15 a.m. in the 4400 block of Cliff Oaks and found the homeowner holding the intruder, a 47-year-old man, at gunpoint.

The homeowner reportedly told police that he had heard noises in his backyard, so he grabbed his handgun and went to his backyard where he saw the intruder scrambling over the fence trying to flee.

Officer fatally shot man in West Side domestic dispute

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Police said one man was shot to death after an officer intervened in an assault Thursday night on the West Side.

San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus said a man in his 50s was fighting with his girlfriend when the officer was flagged down at about 8:40 p.m. in the 200 block of North Zarzamora.

McManus said witnesses told police that the suspect pulled a knife and the woman tried to take it away.

When the man broke free, he charged at the officer, who deployed his Taser, McManus said.

2 injured in gang-related shooting near Gates Elementary

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Authorities said two men were injured in an East Side shooting Monday that may be connected to drugs or gang activity.

At least four units responded at about 2:15 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Morningview Street and Wheatley Avenue, about a block from Gates Elementary.

San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus said officers found two men at the scene, one in the driver seat of a Nissan sedan, and the other behind a store.

Both men were transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center. McManus said the driver was critically injured.

Couple dead in apparent murder-suicide at North Side apartment

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A man and a woman were found dead Friday in an apparent murder-suicide at a North Side apartment complex.

San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus said the man shot his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself in their home at about 4 p.m. in the Nest apartments, 8607 Jones Maltsberger Road.

Investigators said the couple, who appeared to be in their late 20s or early 30s, were found dead in the back of the apartment. Their bodies each had a gunshot wound to the head, investigators said.

Man shot dead in front yard; 4 men open fire on man

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Authorities are looking for a man who allegedly shot and killed another man in his front yard on the East Side on Friday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m. Friday, authorities responded to a call for shots fired in the 900 block of Poinsetta Street.

San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus said that an argument ensued between a resident of the home and another man in front of the house.

The chief said shots were fired and multiple casings were found at the scene. Police have not yet identified the victim, a man in his late 20s or early 30s.
