Man sought in Northeast El Paso store robbery spree

EL PASO, Texas – Authorities are trying to identify a knife-wielding man who allegedly robbed at least four businesses in Northeast El Paso since mid-November.

Police detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the robber with Crime Stoppers of El Paso’s Crime of the Week.

Crime Stoppers said the first robbery was at about 1 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Payless ShoeSource on Dyer Street near Sunrise Centre.

The second robbery reportedly occurred at 9:22 p.m. Dec. 22 at the Dollar General store on Dyer Street where the man acted as if he was buying gum and then demanded money when a cashier opened a register.

Cleveland woman pistol-whipped by Tremont robbers

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Authorities said a 29-year-old Cleveland woman was pistol-whipped Thursday during an attempted robbery in Tremont neighborhood.

Police said the woman reportedly declined treatment after the incident that occurred about 8 p.m. on Literary Road between West 7th Street and Thurman Avenue.

The woman reportedly parked her car and was walking home when the two robbers who covered their faces with scarves allegedly ran up to her. The alleged robbers reportedly appeared to be about 16 years old.

The robbers then pointed guns at the woman and demanded money. The woman reportedly said she did not have any money, but she offered to hand over her purse and shoes.

Man shot by Round Rock officers died

ROUND ROCK, Texas –   Round Rock police said Saturday night that a 21-year-old man has died from his injuries after being shot by officers early Saturday morning.

Police officials said Richard Rangel was shot and critically wounded by officers in Round Rock after police responded to reports of a suspicious person.

Officials said Rangel reportedly fired at officers when they attempted to arrest him.

Police reportedly got a call about 3 a.m. that a man dressed in black was walking around cars near the 1900 block of Red Rock Drive.

Man arrested in Lakewood delivery driver carjacking

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force reportedly arrested a man wanted in a delivery driver carjacking in Lakewood.

U.S. Marshals said David Fields, 52, was arrested Thursday on Cedar Road near East 22nd Street in Cleveland.

The task force said Fields is charged with aggravated robbery and kidnapping in a June 9, 2017 carjacking outside North Coast Wine and Beer on West 117th Street at Madison Avenue.

Police said the 30-year-old Lakewood driver, who worked for ABL Wholesale in Youngstown, was not hurt.

Slain mom’s roommate charged with kidnapping Round Rock girls

ROUND ROCK, Texas — A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged Wednesday with kidnapping two Round Rock girls who were recovered safely in Colorado.

A federal arrest affidavit states Terry Miles had told a relative he had to take the girls away because their mother was involved in “some bad stuff.” The girls’ mother, Tonya Bates, was later found slain.

Miles, who was Bates’ roommate, reportedly sent a text message to his mother at 1 a.m. Saturday. The affidavit said investigators believe Bates was assaulted and died Friday evening.

Round Rock police have said Miles is a person of interest in Bates’ death.

Developmentally-disabled man shot and killed on East Side

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland police say an 18-year-old man with a developmental disability was shot in the head and killed while shoveling snow on New Year’s Eve.

Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said the victim was found about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, lying on the ground near the intersection of Kenyon Avenue and East 65th Street in Broadway-Slavic Village neighborhood.

Paramedics took him to MetroHealth where he was pronounced dead.

The spokeswoman said detectives learned that the man had just finished his shift at a nearby Rally’s restaurant and was shoveling snow.

Denver shooting left 4 deputies wounded, 1 killed

DENVER, Colorado — A Colorado sheriff’s deputy was killed and four others were injured after a gunman allegedly fired more than 100 rounds at them early Sunday inside a suburban Denver apartment.

The slain officer was identified as Zackari Parrish.

Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said deputies were shot almost immediately after entering the apartment and trying to talk with the suspect, who was holed up inside a bedroom.

“I do know that all of them were shot very, very quickly. They all went down almost within seconds of each other, so it was more of an ambush-type of attack on our officers,” Spurlock said. “He knew we were coming and we obviously let him know that we were there.”

Cleveland man on parole charged in Christmas Day slaying

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 21-year-old Cleveland man, who is being sought by authorities on a parole violation, is accused of killing a man on Christmas Day on the West Side.

Court records show Jonathon Albright is charged with aggravated murder in the death of 29-year-old Richard Brown who was shot about 1 a.m. on West 44thStreet in Clark-Fulton neighborhood.

Brown was rushed to MetroHealth, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses reportedly told police that Brown was involved in an argument and may have pointed a gun at someone before he was shot.

Man fatally shot woman after robbery rampage in East Austin

AUSTIN, Texas — Investigators said a 19-year-old man who allegedly went on a Christmas Day robbery rampage that left three injured has confessed to fatally shooting a woman he was trying to rob the next day.

Police said Xavier Lewis is accused of killing 30-year-old Ebony Michelle Sheppard and was arrested Thursday afternoon. He was charged with capital murder as well as five counts of aggravated robbery.

Officials said Lewis was wearing a GPS-tracking ankle monitor as a condition for posting bail related to a previous aggravated robbery charge.

Teen robber allegedly stuck gun in Channel 19 employee’s ribs

CLEVELAND, Ohio – An armed teenager allegedly stuck a gun into a Channel 19 cameraman’s ribs before robbing him and a coworker Thursday evening on the city’s East Side.

The robbery reportedly occurred just after 5:30 p.m. on East 99th Street near Colonial Avenue in Glenville neighborhood.

Police said the cameraman and a reporter told them that two teenagers, between 16 and 18 years old, robbed them and ran east through a vacant field.

According to the report, two station employees were in a van parked in front of a home while working on a story when the robbers approached their vehicle.
