Cleveland business owner killed in workplace shooting

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Authorities said a 53-year-old Cleveland business owner was shot and killed Friday by one of his employees at the business.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said Donald Vanhorn III reportedly died after the BTU Comfort Solutions employee shot him at the building located on Berea Road near Detroit Avenue.

State business records and the Better Business Bureau show Vanhorn is the owner and president of BTU, which is a heating and cooling installation business.

Police said Vanhorn was shot about 9:45 a.m. inside the building.

Rapper shot dead after show at San Antonio hip-hop club

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – San Antonio police said a 25-year-old local rapper was gunned down by unknown assailants while driving on Loop 410 following a performance at a popular Northwest Side club.

Police say Christopher Polk, also known as Chris P – OG Ape Life, and another man left the Ice Lounge, in the 5500 block of Loop 410, shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday.

As the two got onto Loop 410 and headed east near Callaghan Road, a silver SUV pulled up beside them and a passenger in that SUV opened fire on the driver’s side of the victim’s car, according to police.

Cleveland McDonald’s manager allegedly shot at customers

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 52-year-old manager at a Cleveland McDonald’s is accused of shooting at customers who were buying a smoothie in the drive-thru line.

A warrant was issued Thursday for the arrest of Mark Fort, who is not in custody, records show.

A Cleveland police report identified Fort as the manager on duty at the McDonald’s at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and East 152nd Street in South Collinwood.

Three women reportedly went through the restaurant’s drive-thru at about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday.

The women reportedly ordered a smoothie and the man they believed to be the manager handed it to them.

Man shot dead at San Antonio hotel; woman stabbed dead inside home

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A 25-year-old man was found dead in a Northwest Side hotel room Wednesday following a shooting and vehicle robbery.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man as Robert Leonard Patterson who was fatally shot around 1:10 a.m. at the Best Western Plus hotel in the 4800 block of Manitou Drive.

Police said a female victim, who has not been identified, was shot in the neck and taken to University Hospital in stable condition.

2 Ohio inmates accused of stabbing prison guard

LUCASVILLE, Ohio — A prison guard at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility was allegedly stabbed multiple times by two inmates, including one from Cleveland.

Officials with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction said Corrections Officer Matthew Mathias was stabbed at least 30 times with metal weapons in an alleged attack in the prison’s infirmary.

The two inmates were identified as Greg Reinke, 37, of Cleveland, and Casey Pigge, 30, of Chillicothe.

Reinke was sentenced to life in prison for the February 2004 shooting death of Peter Koutsoulias outside Dimitri’s Family Restaurant on Lorain Avenue on the West Side of Cleveland.

Akron couple allegedly attacked man with chainsaw over owed money

AKRON, Ohio – Authorities said a couple in Akron were charged with assault after they allegedly injured a 52-year-old man with a chainsaw during a fight over borrowed money.

Akron police said William Mitchell and Aliyah Wiley are both charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault after they caused several cuts to Marshal Wrenn Jr. with a chainsaw Tuesday night.

Investigators reportedly found Wrenn on the couch, covered in blood.

Wrenn reportedly told authorities that the couple went to a house in the 800 block of Baird Street about 9 p.m. to confront him over some owed money. Authorities did not disclose how much money was owed.

Austin man allegedly lunged at H-E-B manager with knife

AUSTIN, Texas – A 32-year-old Austin man allegedly lunged at a female H-E-B grocery store manager with a knife in Austin after she caught him shoplifting, according to an arrest affidavit.

Samuel Briseno Jr. was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. He is facing up to 99 years in prison if convicted.

The affidavit said police were reportedly notified at 8:58 p.m. Thursday about the incident at the H-E-B at 14028 U.S. 183 North in Northwest Austin.

The manager said she saw Briseno drinking coffee he did not pay for and hiding a water bottle and a Bluetooth audio speaker from the store under his shirt, the affidavit said.

Man found shot to death behind Case Western frat house

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man was found fatally shot Monday in a car parked behind a Case Western Reserve University fraternity house.

Police said the man, whose name has not been released, was shot somewhere off-campus. He was found about 2:30 p.m. in a car parked in a lot behind Beta Nu of Theta Chi fraternity house on Magnolia Drive.

Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said he was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

No arrests have been made in the case. Investigators are unsure where the shooting took place.

5 injured in shooting outside Texas Roadhouse

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — San Antonio police confirmed Monday that five people, including a 6-year-old boy, were injured in a Sunday night shooting in the parking lot of a popular West Side San Antonio steakhouse.

Police said the victims had been shot outside Texas Roadhouse in the 2800 block of Cinema Ridge near Ingram Park Mall, about 8:40 p.m.

Authorities said two victims were in critical condition Sunday night but the boy was not seriously injured.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the 6-year-old was shot in the leg, and his injury is not considered life-threatening. The other victims were in their 20s.

Cleveland police investigate 3 East Side homicides in 24 hours

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Authorities are investigating Sunday after three people were killed within 24 hours on the city’s East Side.

Cleveland police Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said Sunday two of the homicides are confirmed shooting deaths, while the third body was found burning in a rubbish fire Saturday evening.

Ciaccia said the first homicide took place about 4 a.m. Saturday at Priceless Consignment Boutique, near the intersection of East 141st Street and St. Clair Avenue in South Collinwood neighborhood.

Ciaccia said the store’s 27-year-old owner and his 55-year-old uncle were working inside the shop when three men burst through the door and began shooting.
