Woman shot by off-duty Bexar County deputy

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A woman behaving erratically was critically shot by a Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy in Medina County late Thursday.

Officials said Friday the woman, in her 50s, was unarmed. The woman who hasn’t been identified, was taken by AirLife to a San Antonio hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Deputy Brandon Doege has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. Criminal charges have not been filed. Doege has been with the sheriff’s office since January 2016.

Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown said Doege was heading home on westbound Highway 90 around 11:45 p.m. Thursday when he saw the woman’s car parked in the middle of the roadway with its hazard lights on.

Transgender woman found dead in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A transgender woman was found dead early Sunday at an apartment complex parking lot on Detroit Avenue.

Keisha Wells, 58, was identified by a family member and LGBTQ advocates as the woman killed on Detroit Avenue near West 87th Street.

A family member identified her to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office Monday night.

Wells was found dead about 7 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Detroit Avenue. Police said she suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Suspect fatally shot after high-speed chase in Dallas County

DALLAS, Texas — Dallas police said a suspect was fatally shot by police Monday afternoon after he had grabbed an officer’s weapon and pointed it at him following a high-speed chase through Dallas County.

Bobby Blade, 29, was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The shooting reportedly occurred after Blade wrecked his vehicle on the northbound side of I-635 and Garland Road and then fled on foot to the 12100 block of Self Plaza in Dallas.

A Mesquite police officer reportedly found the suspect next to a secured building. Police said Blade “aggressively assaulted” the officer before a struggle over the officer’s weapon.

4th person arrested in Cleveland shootout that killed 9-year-old girl

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A fourth person was arrested Friday for allegedly being part of a Wednesday evening shootout that killed a 9-year-old girl sitting in her mother’s car.

Saniyah Nicholson, 9

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said U.S. Marshals and Cleveland police reportedly arrested Ce’Matizea Andrews, 19 while hiding out in a home in the 3500 block of Randolph Road in Cleveland Heights.

Andrews is charged with murder in connection with the Wednesday shootout that killed 9-year-old Saniyah Nicholson. He is accused of being inside a car that fired the first shots during the shootout.

Fort Worth police arrested man convicted for killing his brother

FORT WORTH, Texas — Police reportedly arrested a man Wednesday in the March shooting death of a 25-year-old in east Fort Worth.

Jail records show Morris Lewis Breakfield, 31, was in the Tarrant County Jail on Saturday facing a murder charge. Bond was set at $500,000.

Morris Breakfield was reportedly arrested in the slaying of Devante Charles Martez Moore on March 4 in the 8600 block of Meadowbrook Drive where police responded to a shooting call shortly before 5 p.m.

Police said at the time that two men were walking through a parking lot when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other. The shooting suspect reportedly jumped in a U-Haul truck and fled.

Arrests made in 2016 death of El Paso man found in NE desert

EL PASO, Texas — El Paso police reportedly arrested a father and son on Thursday in connection with the cold-case death of a man found slain in the Northeast desert nearly two years ago.

Police officials said Friday detectives reportedly arrested Richard Zelonis, 55, and his son, Aaron Anthony Zelonis, 27, on a murder charge.

They are accused in the death of Devon Leatherbury, 26, whose body was found on Aug. 16, 2016, in the desert off the 12700 block of Dyer Street at the edge of Northeast El Paso.

Aaron Zelonis was booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $1 million bond and his father Richard Zelonis was jailed on a $750,000 bond.

Woman found shot dead near southwest Fort Worth home

FORT WORTH, Texas — Authorities say a woman was found shot to death Tuesday morning in a grassy area outside the wall of a gated neighborhood in southwest Fort Worth.

Police said the death of the victim, who was described as a white female in her mid-30s, is being investigated as a homicide. Her name has not been released by authorities, who have disclosed few details about the case.

Police said officers reportedly found  the woman’s topless body in the 4900 block of Bellaire Drive South at the corner of Ranch View Road in the leafy Overton Woods neighborhood after a call at about 5:30 a.m. from a man who was driving by and saw the body in the grass.

63-year-old mother killed in Butler County hostage situation

TRENTON, Ohio — A 63-year-old mother was killed Thursday in Butler County in an hours-long hostage situation with a man questioned in the shooting death of a woman found dumped in Madison Township.

Authorities were in a Trenton apartment to question James Geran about a woman found shot in the head and dumped in a Madison Township driveway the night before.

When authorities knocked on the apartment door, the 45-year-old suspect reportedly shot at them at least five times, according to Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones.

An officer then returned fire three times and scrambled backward for cover. The SWAT team was called.

Taylor man allegedly shot another man in chest, upper arm

TAYLOR, Texas — Taylor police reportedly arrested and charged a 43-year-old Taylor man accused in the shooting of another man on Monday.

Manuel Herrera Jr. has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

A news release said Juan Palacio, 31, was shot in the chest and upper arm, and he was in stable condition Tuesday at Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock.

Palacio reportedly told an officer at the hospital that he had a verbal argument with Herrera on Monday and then later saw him again in the 100 block of Dolan Street in Taylor, the affidavit said.

3 arrested in West Side, East Side, Lower Valley burglaries

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso police reportedly arrested two men and a woman accused of burglarizing more than a dozen homes, including some houses with sleeping owners.

Police officials said Monday the alleged burglars were arrested in connection with separate home burglary sprees on the West Side and on the East Side and Lower Valley.

Police said investigators reportedly arrested Francisco Gustavo Villescas and Cristal Peña on Saturday in connection with a rash of home burglaries in West El Paso.

Villescas and Peña “entered homes during nighttime hours, on several occasions while residents slept, gaining entry through open garage doors,” according to a news release.
