PORTLAND, Oregon – Bethany Storro wearing her new pair of sunglasses and a new job to celebrate when a woman with a cup walked up to her and said: “Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?”

But what was inside the cup was acid. She splashed right into Storro’s face, and then Ms. Storro fell to the ground after she stumbled in pain. The agony of pain was as terrible as the skin on her face bubbled and sizzled and portion of her blouse disintegrated.

“It was the most painful thing ever,” Storro, 28, said Thursday. “My heart stopped. It ripped through my clothing the instant it touched my shirt; I could feel it burning through my second layer of skin.”

Police are trying to look the identity of a black woman with a pony tail behind Storro’s acid attack last Monday. Only days before, she had been celebrating a new job and a recent move to Vancouver, Washington, from Idaho, she told a news conference on Thursday with her head wrapped in white bandages.

Thanks to her newly bought sunglasses a minute before the acid splashing incident; it spared damage of her eyesight. And laughingly wondered, but she maintained that she would not let the attack in Vancouver wreck her life.

She had spinal meningitis twice as a child which robbed her of most of her hearing, Storro said.

Russellville, Alabama – Franklin County during the weekend could end up his probation be canceled, after he left a calling card of sorts at Russellville home that he is accused of burglarizing.

Police investigator have found an iPhone inside the homeowner had said was not there before the break-in. The IPhone was found near where a computer in the burglary was normally placed according to Franklin District Attorney Joey Rushing.

They started calling some numbers stored in the iPhone and determined that it belonged to Blake Garrison, the accused burglar, a police spokesman said.

After questioning, Garrison was arrested for burglarizing the home.
In addition to the iPhone, a video from Wal-Mart in Russellville show Garrison cashing in coins that believed were taken during burglary.

Rushing said, “It always helps when you’ve got stupid criminals; it makes it a lot easier to solve the case.”

Rushing has asked Franklin Circuit Court Judge Terry Dempsey to consider revoking Garrison’s probation for a previous burglary charge.

Rushing expects a revocation hearing next week. If revoked, Garrison could be sent to jail or prison.

Garrison will have to find a new way to make and receive calls. “We’re going to be holding on to the phone,” he said. “It’s now a key piece of evidence in this case.” Rushing said the iPhone is being held by police.

The 45 year old Charles Juan Proctor was also ordered to pay $58,000 in medical expenses for two women whose necks were slit And another $10,000 to states victims’ restitution fund. The twenty-two (22) counts of attempted murder, mayhem, robbery and other charges of Proctor’s conviction came out last August 13, 2010.

BAKERSFIELD, California – Police said Tuesday, a doctor’s decomposing body was found down a chimney. Dr Jacquelyn Kotarac, 49, who is involved in an “on-again, off-again” relationship, thus, apparently tried to force her way into her boyfriend’s home by sliding down the chimney, three days later.

By trying to get into the house with a shovel last Wednesday night, then climbed a ladder to the roof, removed the chimney cap and slid feet first down the flue, Bakersfield police Sgt. Mary DeGeare said.

The two were in an “on-again, off-again” relationship when she was trying to break in on the man she was pursuing (identity was not revealed by police, but the man who resides in the home is William Moodie, 58), but escaped unnoticed from another exit “to avoid a confrontation,” authorities said.

According to Moodie, “She made an unbelievable error in judgment and nobody understands why, and unfortunately she’s passed away,” Moodie also said, “She had her issues — she had her demons — but I never lost my respect for her.”

Moodie, who runs an engineering consulting firm, said Kotarac was a superb internist who often provided service and medication free of charge to her patients.

Reached by telephone, Moodie did not dispute to the police about his relationship with Kotarac nor give a comment on the circumstances that led to her death, saying it was more important to focus on the good she did in life, he told media.

We’ve talked a lot lately about pepper spray and how to use it properly when you find yourself in a potentially dangerous situation thanks to a would be attacker. Just last month Hanna and a few friends were hiking one of their favorite trails at Glacier National Park in Montana, when just as they rounded a turn they were confronted by a momma grizzly and her two yearlings.

As Hanna recounts, “Yearlings are about 100 to 150 pounds. You cannot run from these animals. They run a football field in six seconds. I unloaded the first blast and the wind blew the damn pepper spray right away. He’s still coming, so I blast him again about 15 feet and he’s still [coming], ‘roar’, and he goes like that about 10 feet right in front of me. I had the pepper spray right in his face. I mean, I could just [have said] this is it for me. I just go ‘pssssh’ and unload the whole thing in his face. I waited so long for that first blast of pepper spray, because I didn’t want that yearling squealing for his mom, and the mom comes back and [says], ‘I’m going to kick somebody’s butt here. I didn’t want it to be my butt.” Like most things in life for every incident or accident there are lessons to be learned and the same is true in this case.
