MIRAMAR, Florida — Police early Friday announced the arrest of a man who is being held in jail on murder charges in connection with the deaths of two people whose bodies were found Thursday morning in a Miramar apartment.
Miramar Police said that the bodies of the two victims were found dead with multiple stab wounds at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday when a friend of a lady victim became friend concerned and went to her apartment near Southwest 20th Street and 64th Avenue.
The two victims were identified as 44-year-old Joann Beaudoin and the 51-year-old Bryan Andrew Bennett.
The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Edwin Maldonado. A Dania Beach man told officers he stabbed the 44-year-old Joann Beaudoin and the 51-year-old Bryan Andrew Bennett to death after he entered his former girlfriend’s apartment and found the pair having sex, reports say.
According to the police, jealousy appears to have been the motive for the killings.
When police began investigating, they found that Beaudoin had filed several burglary and domestic disturbance complaints against Maldonado. Court records also show that Beaudoin repeatedly appeared in court this year seeking a restraining order against Maldonado.
Police say that at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Maldonado had a verbal argument with Bennett and his friend that led to a fist fight at Mike’s Lounge.
According to the reports, a witness told police Maldonado returned to Mike’s Lounge at about 3:30 a.m., and police later found a bloody shirt in a Dumpster outside the bar.
According to Miramar police, the investigation led detectives to Maldonado who was subsequently located in the Pompano Beach-area where Officers found him at about 4 p.m. Thursday along State Road A1A in Pompano Beach.
Jail records show 52-year-old Edwin Maldonado is charged with two counts of premeditated murder. Maldonado appeared in court Friday afternoon, where Judge Robert F. Diaz ordered him held without bond.
