San Antonio boy allegedly kidnapped, drugged and sexually abused

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Records show a man and woman allegedly kidnapped an 11-year-old San Antonio boy, drugged him, sexually assaulted him and tried to sell him to a drug dealer.

Laura Garcia, 35, was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated kidnapping and trafficking of persons. The man involved in the kidnapping has not been identified.

Garcia and the unidentified man approached the boy at a local park on Feb. 22 and pretended to be his parents, according to Texas Department of Public Safety officials.

They reportedly grabbed him by the arms and told him he needed to come home.

Authorities said the kidnapping was seen by another boy with whom the victim had been playing but the boy reportedly assumed Garcia and the man were actually the victim’s parents and didn’t tell anyone.

An arrest affidavit states Garcia and the man took the child to a nearby apartment complex, where the man pulled out a knife and threatened to cut the boy if he didn’t stay quiet.

At that point, Garcia held down the boy, while the man sexually assaulted him, the child told police.

Investigators believe Garcia injected the boy with drugs, as he told investigators that after the injection he “began to feel very sleepy,” the affidavit says.

The victim reportedly told investigators that he was sore when he awoke and wanted to leave the apartment.

He also thought there were other adults in the apartment who may have filmed what happened, because “they were holding their phones in the air,” the affidavit says.

The affidavit says an adult kept talking on the phone with an alleged drug dealer and that they were trying to sell the victim in exchange for drugs.

No details are provided in the affidavit about how the victim was able to escape his captors or what park he was allegedly taken from.
