CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man already facing charges in three armed carjackings is now accused of trying to commit a fourth carjacking that turned into a shootout outside a Cleveland convenience store.

James Moncado, 25, is charged with aggravated robbery in the June 24 robbery and shootout outside the Family Dollar on Kinsman Avenue near East 116th Street.

Moncado is jailed on $100,000 bond in the incident that injured a 37-year-old man and the man’s 37-year-old girlfriend.

The shooting reportedly occurred about 8:30 p.m. when Moncado walked up behind the man leaving the store, put a gun to his back and ordered him to give him everything he had.

Police said the man reportedly tried to hand Moncado the keys to his car but dropped them. Moncado then shot the man in his leg.

The man reportedly ducked for cover behind his car, pulled out his own gun and shot at Moncado, hitting him in the leg.

The man’s girlfriend, who was seated inside the car, also suffered a gunshot wound in her leg. She reportedly got out of the car with her own gun and fired shots at Moncado, who limped away while firing shots at the couple.

Moncad jumped into a car that sped away. Cleveland police officers patrolling nearby heard the gunfire and found the man and woman on the ground in the parking lot.

Officers reportedly tracked Moncado to an abandoned house on East 117th Street. Moncado jumped from a second-story window as officers were searching the home. He was arrested outside the home after he made the jump.

Moncado is facing aggravated robbery charges in connection with three other robberies.

He is accused of carjacking a 60-year-old Richmond Heights man about 5:15 p.m. June 9 on East 129th Street.

He is accused of choking and carjacking a 63-year-old woman at gunpoint on March 18  in the parking lot of the Greater Friendship Baptist Church on Arlington Avenue in the Glenville neighborhood.

Moncado is also facing charges for a Dec. 4 armed carjacking of a Lyft driver on East 36th Street and Ali-Bey Avenue.
