DALLAS, Texas — Dallas police said a suspect was fatally shot by police Monday afternoon after he had grabbed an officer’s weapon and pointed it at him following a high-speed chase through Dallas County.

Bobby Blade, 29, was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The shooting reportedly occurred after Blade wrecked his vehicle on the northbound side of I-635 and Garland Road and then fled on foot to the 12100 block of Self Plaza in Dallas.

A Mesquite police officer reportedly found the suspect next to a secured building. Police said Blade “aggressively assaulted” the officer before a struggle over the officer’s weapon.

He then wrestled the weapon away from the injured officer and pointed it at him. Four officers from the Mesquite and Garland police departments reportedly fired multiple rounds, striking him.

Police said the injured officer was brought to the hospital and treated for multiple facial fractures. Dallas police said the officer has been released and is recovering at home.

The incident started at 3:45 p.m. when Mesquite police responded to a suspicious person call in the 2600 block of Towne Centre Drive on Monday.

Blade fled in a car, prompting a high-speed pursuit all the way to Garland before his vehicle flipped and crashed. The chase on foot continued into Dallas.

In an unrelated case, a man accused in the highway slaying of a Denton motorcyclist with whom he fought over a parking spot has been arrested in Dallas.

Jail records show Quintin Lowe, 28, was booked into the Dallas County Jail early Sunday morning.

Records say Lowe, a Dallas resident, faces a charge of murder in the slaying of William M. Booker, 36, and a previous charge of assaulting and choking a family or household member.

He is being held on $250,000 bail on the murder charge and $50,000 on the assault charge.

Police say Lowe and Booker fought over a parking spot at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of State Highway 121 Business on June 12. Booker allegedly kicked Lowe’s car and took off on his motorcycle.
