FORT WORTH, Texas — Police reportedly arrested a man Wednesday in the March shooting death of a 25-year-old in east Fort Worth.

Jail records show Morris Lewis Breakfield, 31, was in the Tarrant County Jail on Saturday facing a murder charge. Bond was set at $500,000.

Morris Breakfield was reportedly arrested in the slaying of Devante Charles Martez Moore on March 4 in the 8600 block of Meadowbrook Drive where police responded to a shooting call shortly before 5 p.m.

Police said at the time that two men were walking through a parking lot when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other. The shooting suspect reportedly jumped in a U-Haul truck and fled.

Moore was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest shortly after his arrival at John Peter Smith Hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said Morris Breakfield was arrested earlier this week after he was located inside a vehicle at an Arlington apartment complex.

Court records show that Morris Breakfield was arrested in September 2008 in connection with the slaying of his brother,Quinton Breakfield, 26.

A witness reportedly told police that Morris Breakfield, then 21, went to his brother’s east-central Arlington apartment and fatally shot him several times over an alleged $75 debt.

Morris Breakfield reportedly reached a plea bargain agreement with prosecutors in December 2008 that lowered the murder charge to manslaughter. Records show he was sentenced to five years deferred adjudication probation.

Conditions of his probation required him to submit to a psychiatric evaluation and he was designated a high risk offender in 2009, according to court records. That probation was revoked in November 2010 after a petition alleging multiple violations.
