SAN ANTONIO, Texas — San Antonio police say two people are hospitalized in serious condition after an older man who was living in their home allegedly shot them on the Southeast Side Saturday afternoon.

Officer Martin Fahey said the victims, a woman in her 50s and her son in his 20s, were shot by their tenant following an argument inside a residence at the intersection of Chickering Avenue and Vista Road about 3:10 p.m.

Both victims were transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in serious condition. Police did not say where the victims had been hit.

Fahey added that the unidentified older man was handcuffed and taken to University Hospital to be treated for a head injury he received from an iron bar at some point in the altercation.

Police did not say what charges the man will face if any.

In a separate incident, another argument reportedly led to a shooting Saturday night on the South Side.

San Antonio police are trying to determine what started the argument.

Officers say a 4-door, grey car, carrying an unknown number of passengers, pulled up to a group of people outside an apartment house in the 1500 block of Cupples Road at about 11:20 a.m.

Someone in the vehicle reportedly began shouting at the group of people.

Then at some point, someone within the vehicle fired an unknown number of shots at the group of people, hitting an unidentified 38-year-old male in the foot, according to an SAPD sergeant at the scene.

Police say the injured man was transported to an area hospital by a family member. The shooter remains at large.
