SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Authorities reportedly arrested two suspects on Wednesday night after an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg on the Southwest Side.

Police said the suspects reportedly approached the victim around 11:15 p.m. in the 8700 block of Five Palms Drive and shot him in the leg. The victim was taken to University Hospital for treatment.

Police began investigating the area and soon found one suspect in the 4600 block of Southwest Military Drive.

They also found a backpack stashed nearby behind a building, leading them into a wooded area where they found the second suspect hiding under a bridge.

Police said several people in the area matched the description of the suspect given to officers by witnesses.

One suspect, 17-year-old Damion Estrada, was arrested Wednesday night and is facing a charge of evading arrest, though it’s unclear if he will face charges in connection to the shooting.

Detectives are now investigating the shooting.

In a separate incident, authorities on Wednesday also arrested a 34-year-old man after a Monday night dispute between two men led to a shooting on the North Side of San Antonio.

Marco Antonio Anaya is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $75,000.

A man reportedly told police that he was driving his Nissan pickup when Anaya pulled up by him at a stop sign.

The arrest affidavit states Anaya’s passenger accused the man of stealing something from him.

The man reportedly told authorities he drove away in hopes of avoiding a confrontation, but Anaya continued chasing him.

Police said Anaya eventually caught to the man near the intersection of San Pedro Avenue and West Hermine Street, where he allegedly pulled a gun out and fired up to three shots at the man.

Anaya allegedly sped away before the man could call police. The man was not wounded but the bullets pierced his vehicle. He reportedly told police that he’s known Anaya for about a year.

Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Anaya and arrested him Wednesday.
