EL PASO, Texas – Authorities are trying to identify a knife-wielding man who allegedly robbed at least four businesses in Northeast El Paso since mid-November.

Police detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the robber with Crime Stoppers of El Paso’s Crime of the Week.

Crime Stoppers said the first robbery was at about 1 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Payless ShoeSource on Dyer Street near Sunrise Centre.

The second robbery reportedly occurred at 9:22 p.m. Dec. 22 at the Dollar General store on Dyer Street where the man acted as if he was buying gum and then demanded money when a cashier opened a register.

Police said the robber later left empty handed when he attempted to rob the Burger King restaurant on Dyer Street near Hondo Pass Drive.

Crime Stoppers said the most recent robbery occurred Dec. 27 when the man robbed the 7-Eleven store at 4130 Hercules Avenue in the Sunrise Acres area.

Police said the robber used a knife to threaten store clerks in the first case and in the last case.

The robber was described as Anglo with brown hair, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build and “a large stomach.” He appeared to be in his mid-30s to early 40s, police said.

The allegedly robber reportedly wore sunglasses and in some cases wore a black or gray beanie and a black jacket. Investigators suspect that he may have left in a gray four-door car similar to a Toyota Corrolla.

Anyone with information on the robber is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 566-8477, leave a tip online at crimestoppersofelpaso.org or send a text message by entering the word “CRIME1″ (include the quote marks), plus the tip, and send the text to 274637 (CRIMES).
