CLEVELAND, Ohio – Authorities said a 24-year-old Cleveland man was shot and killed Tuesday night when alleged robbers confronted him and his family as they returned to their East Side home.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office reportedly identified the victim as Mallik Williams who was fatally shot about 8:45 p.m. at a home on East 130th Street in the Buckeye-Shaker neighborhood.

Cleveland police Det. Reginald Lanton said Williams and his family members were preparing to walk in the house when several armed men confronted him before they pulled out guns and forced Williams inside.

Lanton said the men robbed Williams and shot him in front of his family before leaving.

Williams was found on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics rushed him to University Hospitals, where he was later pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported and authorities did not say if any of the other family members were robbed. No charges have been filed.

In an unrelated incident, a 21-year-old Cleveland man is charged in an alleged armed carjacking of a woman at Steelyard Commons Target on Nov. 4.

Reginald Patterson Jr. is charged with aggravated robbery. He is not in police custody and a warrant was issued Monday for his arrest.

Patterson allegedly pulled a woman out of her SUV at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Steelyard Commons Target and dragged her 100 feet as he sped away.

Investigators reportedly determined Patterson drove to the shopping center in a 2004 Dodge Stratus that he left in the parking lot.

Police reportedly executed search warrants on that car and his phone, which identified him as the carjacker.

Court records show Patterson later filed a report with police claiming that the Dodge Stratus had been stolen.
