Suspects flee after drive-by shooting on the Northeast Side

November 12th, 2017 - Comments »

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Authorities in San Antonio are looking for four suspects they say fled the scene of a shooting after crashing their vehicle on the Northeast Side Sunday afternoon.

Police Sgt. David Renn said officers reportedly responded about 3:47 p.m. to the 4000 block of Sunrise Creek where they found a man in his 20s shot in both legs.

The young man  reportedly told police that he and his friend were standing outside his home when a blue Ford Taurus allegedly drove by and someone inside the car started shooting, hitting them both.

The victim reportedly told police the suspects attempted to drive off but their vehicle reportedly struck a pole and crashed into a ditch on nearby Glacier Sun Drive.

Police said the four suspects then fled the scene on foot. The victim was treated and then transported to University Hospital. His condition remains unknown.

Renn said the victim’s friend was shot once in the foot, but left the scene in his own vehicle. Police said the shooting may have been drug or gang related. The victim told police he did not know the suspects.

“This isn’t something that happens on a normal day,” Renn said. “Situations that involve gangs and drugs usually lead to this.”

According to a witness, the suspects were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered by bandanas. Police said one or more of the suspects were armed with small-caliber handguns.

Renn said police have a perimeter around the area and are looking for the suspects with K-9 units.
