November 11th, 2017 - Comments Off

BRYAN, Texas — A 29-year-old man from Kemah is accused of breaking into a woman’s home before allegedly threatening to rape her and set her house on fire.

Police reports say a 54-year-old woman living on Applecreek Circle in Bryan contacted police at 2 a.m. Thursday.

Police had been to the woman’s home Sunday night, ejecting Robert Michael Acosta after he refused to leave.

Acosta reportedly came back to the home Thursday morning, arguing with the woman while her two young sons hid in their bedroom. The woman reportedly told the officers Acosta was upset with her for not allowing him to stay in the home.

She said she awoke Thursday to find Acosta in her living room. The woman told police Acosta said he would rape her and set her house on fire.

Acosta was charged with burglary of a habitation. He was also charged with obstruction of justice. He was released from the Brazos County Jail Friday after posting $18,000 bail.

In a separate incident, Bryan police on Friday were investigating a convenience store robbery.

Officials said a man reportedly entered the Handi Stop at 2805 N. Texas Ave. around 11:30 p.m. Thursday with a weapon and demanded money.

He reportedly left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured, police said.

Meanwhile, officials did not say what type of weapon the man had and no description was released.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call police at 209-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 775-TIPS.
