Cleveland Police Investigates East Side Fatal Shooting

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The law enforcement officials from the Cleveland Division of Police are investigating the death of a Cleveland man who was shot and killed in the city’s east side.

The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit said that the twenty-eight-year-old victim was discovered dead early Sunday morning with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to the reports.

The Fifth District officers reported that they were dispatched to the area of East 117th Street and Temblett Avenue following a report that a man was shot at around 1:15 early Sunday morning, according to the reports.

Other news media outlet reported that the man was discovered lying next to a vehicle and was bleeding from a gunshot wound.

The medic personnel who responded together with the law enforcement officials transported the victim to the MetroHealth Medical Center. Hospital officials said that he die not long after he arrived at the hospital because of the wound he obtained from the shooting incident, according to the reports.

The Cleveland Division of Police identified the fatally shot Cleveland man as twenty-eight-year-old Harvey L. Phillips. The department did not give any details regarding the fatal shooting.

During the investigation, the residents from the area told the investigators that they heard several shots which rang in the area but they were not able to witness the actual incident and were not able to see the shooter.

The fatal shooting is still under the investigation of the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit. They are still trying to sort out evidences and the circumstances prior to the incident in order to determine the motive for the shooting.
